how to fix Bad dog breath when nothing works?

I have a large mix breed dog, he has horrible breath, and loves to snuggle. Well I took him to the vet, the says to brush his teeth cause his teeth are fine, well its been 4 months and I brush his teeth twice a day, and give him Purina beneful dog food and hard dog cleaning biscuits. still is smells like awful.

I cant get him to the vet for another month or so, so I am asking you guys. IS there anything to stop him from smelling temporarily, and what are the causes making this is happening?
yes if you shot him he would smell more, then he wouldn’t be as playful :D
What brand food should I buy?

If he’s had a full check up and there aren’t any obvious problems then start with his food. Beneful is crap. It’s loaded with sugar and fillers. Put him on a better quality food and his bad breath (as well as any gas or general ‘wet dog’ odors) may very well just disappear in 2 or 3 weeks.

I really have no idea. I was going to suggest you shoot the dog, but that would probably cause more smell… Good luck anyways!

Beneful is a poor quality food. I would switch to a high quality kibble and no table scraps or wet food. Table scraps and canned dog food can cause odors.

One Greenie once a day will address any dental issues that may cause bad breath. Also, you might try a different food. Beneful is full of corn and bi-products which are difficult to digest. Poor digestion can also cause bad breath. Consider a premium food such as Ultra Holistic Superfood or Natural Choice Lamb and Rice. Neither contain corn, wheat or bi-products. Let me know how things turn out.
